Humans have meditated in one form or another for thousands of years. In recent times, scientists have sought to understand meditation's impact on our health and well-being. For example, studies over the last 30 years have shown that meditation can transform both the structure and functioning of the brain. Moreover, meditation can reduce stress and help an individual become more aware of any conflicts they have in their own thinking. Other studies have shown that meditation can reduce inflammation and other biological stresses at a molecular level.
Origin Wellness has 4 secular mindfulness meditations to choose from, all developed by the Anthropedia Foundation: Silence of the Mind, Union with Nature, Cardiac Coherence, and Reaxising. Any time of day, you can practice whatever mindfulness meditation you choose.
The Benefits of MindBody Meditation
Each of our meditations lasts 45 minutes. Here are some of the benefits associated with the four meditations:
- The Silence of the Mind meditation can help you calm down and understand your thoughts, let go of judgment, and help expand your awareness of your Outlook among other things.
- The practice of Union with Nature allows us to be aware of the distance between ourself and the world, which contributes to our feelings of separation. When we experience union with nature, our five senses are fully opened and we have a deep sense of joy and satisfaction. Neurologically, union with nature stimulates our prefrontal cortex, so we can better handle new and complex situations. This improvement in mental flexibility helps us alleviate our stressful questioning about the future and develop greater well-being.
- The Cardiac Coherence meditation is extremely simple and focuses on increasing our awareness of a natural way of breathing and a calm state of mind that helps the heart to function optimally in a state of coherence. This state comes about when the two parts of our autonomic nervous system, sympathetic and parasympathetic, operate in harmony. The breathing exercise and the states of mind encourage by this meditation will allow you to manage stress effectively and feel a sense of calmness and vitality.
- The practice of Reaxising is designed to help us become more aware of our body, increase our bodily sensitivity and gather our physical energies.
Preparing for the Service
As with all of our services, we recommend drinking plenty of water both before and after the session, especially since we often forget to drink adequate amounts of high-quality water.
We recommend wearing comfortable, loose-fitting clothing to make sure you are as comfortable as possible during the session.
Beyond that, it is always a good idea to approach meditation with an open state of mind.
There are no specific contraindications for meditation.
